Single Sign-On (SSO)

At time of writing, Users on the Professional Plan AND Enterprise Plan now have the capability to make h2x signups & logins happen via SSO.

What is the Capability ?

The capability is Single Sign-On (SSO), which allows Users to perform h2x signups and logins using an existing company email login, managed by an Identity Provider (IdP). The IdP is an application that simplifies user creation and management across various SaaS applications within a business. Examples of Identity Providers include Google, Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), and Okta:

What are the Benefits of this Capability ?

This capability solves problems for organizations, especially those with stricter security policies, by offering two main benefits:

  • Reuse Existing Company Logins: Users don't need to create a distinct, different account for h2x; they simply sign up and log in with their existing company email login.

  • Centralized Account Management: The organization's IT department doesn't have to manage a separate user account for h2x, as access is centrally managed in their existing Identity Provider.

Which Users & Plans have this Capability ?

At the time of writing, Users on Professional Plan AND Enterprise Plan.

Which Users, Roles & Seats can use these Capabilities in the App ?

Once SSO is configured for an h2x organization, all managers & users with emails that match the SSO configuration can sign up and log in to h2x via Single Sign-On.

What can Users actually do in the App ?

Customers can configure and enable SSO within their h2x organization to allow users to signup and login to h2x via SSO.

Once SSO is configured for the organization:

  • Users can use SSO to sign up and log in to h2x.

  • Users with emails that match the SSO configuration will be automatically redirected to log in via Single Sign-On.

  • Users in that organization cannot log in via a username/password; they must log in via SSO.

How can a User start using these capabilities in the App ?

Getting SSO configured involves 3 steps which happen outside of the h2x app:

  • User needs to register h2x ids & URLs in their SSO Identity Provider: Setup SSO with h2x – which has details on how to configure your Identity Provider with h2x.

  • User needs to provide their SSO Identity Provider configuration details to h2x contact: Once the User has finished configuring h2x, they must provide h2x with their Identity Provider details so h2x can register the IdP into h2x. The details we need are listed in this doc: Setup SSO with h2x | What We Need From You.1 (β€œWhat we need from you” section)

  • A h2x engineer will complete the SSO setup on their h2x organisation: A h2x Engineer then uses the Identity Provider details to configure SSO on the User's h2x organization. This ensures every user can sign up and log in via Single Sign-On.
