Bill of Materials (BoM)

The Bill of Materials/Quantities (BoM) provides a detailed breakdown of all components in your design.

It includes precise quantities, sizes, and descriptions for pipes, ducts, fittings, valves, emitters, fixtures, and other materials specified during your design.

How to Export the Bill of Materials

Click the Export button next to the Bill of Materials section in Export mode.

The exported file contains these tabs:

  • Summary: Provides a complete overview of all materials in your project.

  • Levels: Separate tabs showing materials grouped by project levels (e.g., Level 1, Level 2). Inter-level materials like risers are also detailed on their own tab.

Rates for materials can be edited in the Budget section of the settings within the software. Alternatively, modify rates directly in the exported Excel file under the Master Rates tab.

How to Use the Bill of Materials

The BoM is an invaluable tool for project planning and estimation. It can be used for:

  • Estimating Costs: Utilize the quantities and rates to calculate the total project cost accurately. Adjust rates in the settings or directly in the Excel file to align with supplier pricing.

  • Procurement Planning: With a complete list of materials, you can streamline ordering and avoid underestimations or shortages.

  • Detailed Reporting: Share the BoM with stakeholders, suppliers, or clients to provide transparency on project materials and costs.

  • Value Engineering: Assess the cost differences between two designs, by making modifications and exporting the updated BOM.
