Revit Export / Integration

The Revit Export lets you synchronize your h2x designs directly with Autodesk Revit.

It provides a seamless transition from h2x into a 3D model, prevents the need to draw it again, and ensures no details get missed between the design and calculation stage and drafting.

How to Install and Use the Revit Export Add-In

Step 1: Download and Install the Add-In

Step-by-step
  1. Download: Navigate to the Autodesk App Store to download the h2x Revit Sync add-in - https://apps.autodesk.com/RVT/en/Detail/Index?id=1861106365632198179&appLang=en&os=Win64

  2. Install: Run the downloaded installer and follow the instructions.

Restart Revit after installation to activate the add-in.

Ensure compliance with your organization's IT and software requirements.

Step 2: Prepare Your h2x Design

Step-by-step
  1. Complete Design: Ensure all systems in your h2x project are finalized, including pipework, valves, equipment, etc.

  2. Check Results: Click the Results button in h2x to ensure all sizing calculations are accurate and up-to-date.

This is a one-way export, so it is important that you are happy with the h2x design before completing the export.

Step 3: Log In to Revit Add-in

Step-by-step
  1. Open Revit:

Launch Revit and open the project file where you want to import your h2x design.

Ensure that the project has the necessary levels and systems in place for aligning the imported systems.

  2. Access the h2x Sync Add-In:

Navigate to the h2x Sync tab located in the Revit โ€˜Add-inโ€™ toolbar.

If you donโ€™t see the tab, ensure that the h2x Revit add-in is installed correctly and restart Revit if needed.

It may have been installed to a different version of Revit

  3. Log In:

Click on the Login button in the h2x Sync tab.

    Enter your h2x account credentials.

If login fails, ensure you are using your h2x credentials and. verify your internet connection.

Step 4: Settings

Step-by-step
  1. General Tab

Select Project: Use the drop-down menu to select the project you want to import into Revit.

Troubleshooting: If your project is missing, log out of the h2x add-in, close Revit, and log back in.

Save: Once selected, click Save to finalize your project selection.

  2. Alignment Tab

Display h2x Base Point: Click Display h2x Base Point to show the crosshair that represents the alignment point from h2x .

Use this point to align with a consistent reference that was used in h2x (e.g., a gridline like "1A").

Align to Revit: In Revit, align the base point to the same reference point used in h2x for accurate placement.

Hide Base Point and Save: After alignment, click Hide Base Point and Save.

Troubleshooting: Use the alignment drop-down for additional troubleshooting tips.

  3. Systems Tab

Mapping Systems: For each h2x system (e.g., hot water), choose a corresponding Revit system.

This ensures the correct colors, naming conventions, and Revit properties are applied.

    Save: Save mappings after completion.

  4. Pipe Materials Tab

Map Materials: For example, match Copper (h2x) to Copper (Revit) for correct material representation.

    Save: Save mappings after completion.

  5. Levels Tab

Link Levels: Match levels in h2x (e.g., Level 1 , Level 2) to Revit levels (e.g., Level 1, Level 2).

    Save: Save mappings after completion.

  6. Valves Tab

Mapping Valves: For example, link Balancing Valve (h2x) to a corresponding valve family in Revit.

    Save: Save mappings after completion.

The Settings section is the foundation of the h2x-to-Revit workflow, allowing precise mapping, alignment, and customization to ensure compatibility between your designs and Revit.

Step 5: Sync Process

Step-by-step
  1. Preview (Check Green Ticks):

Ensure that all sections (systems, materials, levels) have green ticks.

If any section is incomplete, click on it to complete the mapping.

  2. Mapping Warnings:

Levels: Unmapped levels wonโ€™t be imported into Revit.

Systems or Materials: Unmapped items will not appear in the Revit model.

Return to the Settings tab to map the missing elements or acknowledge and proceed if intentional.

  3. Sync:

Click Sync to begin the process.

The time required depends on the project size.

Errors like โ€œinsufficient space for fittingsโ€ may appear.

Click Delete Element to remove the fitting.

These errors donโ€™t affect other parts of the design.

  4. Project Synced:

Open the design and verify that all components, levels, and systems are correctly imported.

Click on individual components to review calculation details imported from H2X.
