Materials

Here you can add a New Material to be used in Constructions. Create Materials by specifying their thermal properties: Conductivity, Density, Specific Heat and Thickness.

These properties determine how much heat a material conducts and how quickly, which is what h2x uses to calculate heat transfer through Walls, Floors, Ceilings, and Vaulted Ceilings (Roofs).

New Material

To add a New Material, follow these steps:

Step-by-step

  1. Select on New Material

  2. Enter a Name, Thickness (mm), Conductivity (W/m⋅k), Density Type (kg/m³) and Specific Heat (J/kg⋅K)

  3. Select Create Material to save changes

  4. They will be able to be selected in the Material Assignments section in the Constructions tab

Materials are opaque only. For glass, create a Construction.

These materials can be edited anytime and will update your design instantly. Custom Materials can't be deleted, History Mode may be used to restore the project prior to their creation. Note this is also going to revert your design to that time stamp.
